Virtual assistant glossary
The DonutJobs virtual assistant glossary explains the role names you meet when you hire remote staff. Each entry opens with a one-sentence definition, then covers what the role does, how hiring one works, what it costs and what our own talent pool data says about it.

Virtual assistant roles, defined
Each term with its definition. Open an entry for the task list, the hiring steps, the data and the cost.
How a glossary entry is built
Every entry answers "what is it?" in its first sentence, then gives an employer the facts needed to decide whether to hire for the role.
An entry has the same parts in the same order, so you can find the same fact in the same place on every page.
- The definition comes first. One sentence directly under the term, written so that it can be quoted with nothing around it.
- Tasks, then how it works. What the role does, area by area, and how hiring and working with one goes, step by step.
- Our own numbers, dated. How many DonutJobs candidates list the skill and what they ask an hour, from read-only aggregate queries on the app database. The current snapshot is October 2026.
- Skill counts are self-reported. They show where supply is deep, not who is good at the job. The optional checks on a profile and a paid trial task answer that.
- A visible date. Each entry shows when it was last updated.
Need more than a definition? The hiring guides cover each role in depth, and every DonutJobs price is on the pricing page.
Hiring guides by role
A glossary entry defines the role. A hiring guide goes further, with candidate supply, check scores, costs and how to test applicants. See all hiring guides.
